Ampersand

The Ampersand Series was created during the 2012 redesign of The New Republic under the creative direction of Dirk Barnett.  Each issue, we would commission individual artists to create a unique ampersand.

We created the ampersand series to give the Books and the Arts section a special kicking off point by inviting artists—designers, musicians, sculptors, photographers and choreographers—to visually interpret a section of the magazine that is all about the arts.

Awards and recognition include:
Type Directors Club Communication Design Competition Certificate of Typographic Excellence, 2013/2014

Society of Publication Designers GOLD MEDAL:
The New Republic, February 11, 2013 / July 1, 2013 / October 7, 2013, “Ampersands”
